Leanne was born and raised in Newfoundland and Labrador and has always been deeply connected to family, community, and helping others. She is married and the proud parent of three children, including a teenager and six-year-old twins, along with two dogs who keep life busy and full. Family is central to who she is, and she brings those same values of care, loyalty, honesty, and integrity into her work with others.
Leanne believes that clients are the experts in their own lives. She approaches counselling from a strength-based and trauma-informed perspective, with a strong focus on creating a space that feels safe, respectful, and non-judgmental. She understands that reaching out for support can be difficult, and she deeply respects the courage it takes for people to share their stories.
She is currently completing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and also holds a Bachelor of Psychology, a Bachelor of Social Work, and a Graduate Certificate in Mental Health and Addictions. Over the past ten years, Leanne has worked closely with Indigenous communities across Labrador, supporting both adults and children who have experienced significant challenges and trauma. Her experience includes working with individuals affected by physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, intergenerational trauma, intimate partner violence, substance misuse, and involvement with the child protection system.
Leanne’s work is grounded in empathy, honesty, and trust. She believes meaningful change begins by meeting people exactly where they are and by recognizing the strengths and resilience they already carry, even when they may not see it themselves. She is committed to walking alongside clients as they work toward healing, growth, and more empowered futures.
Outside of her professional role, Leanne enjoys spending time with her family and dogs and values the simple, grounding moments of everyday life. Her compassion for others extends well beyond her work and is a core part of who she is.
